Through carefully targeted investment in training, we help our employees to improve their skills and ability to maximise their contribution, ensuring we stay ahead of our competitors.
We are proud of the training support that we provide to employees and we understand how important it is for them to benefit from ongoing investment in their careers. Every employee is included in an annual training plan, tailored to their role, including safety training, technical skills programmes, soft skills training and a range of management programmes.
In addition to traditional classroom based training, our employees all have access to "The Green Café" - an online learning zone where they can access interactive training modules covering a wide range of both general and skill-specific training. At work or home, employees can access an extensive and growing menu of interactive and informative learning material, which is regularly updated.
We provide a number of formal structured development programmes for specific roles such as our Rental Manager and Driver Induction Programmes. We also work with NVQ providers to provide employees with the opportunity to gain a work based qualification. Current initiatives include offering our Rental Managers the opportunity to gain a NVQ in Hire and Rental Operations, whilst our Drivers can earn a NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles, and Support Staff can qualify for a NVQ in Business Administration.
At management level we work in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute, who accredit our A-Plant Professional Manager and Diploma in Management programmes, so our managers can develop their skills whilst achieving a recognised management qualification.

The support and encouragement I have been given throughout my Apprenticeship and career have been fantastic. I have also gained many other certiﬁcates including my driving licence; A-Plant has given me tools for life. I now mentor a Plant Maintenance Apprentice of my own, so it’s good to be able to pass on my skills to younger people.”

“I've been at A-Plant for 26 years now. During that time, I've worked across lots of different areas - Power Generation, Powered Access, Traffic - to name just a few. One of the things that has kept me here is the opportunity to learn about lots of different products. The company is always investing in new kit so there is always something new to get to grips with.
It can be a challenge to keep your skills up to speed but the training is fantastic. You get lots of support from managers, lots of in-house training and lots of training that leads to formal qualifications, such as Fork Lift Tuck Driving or your Construction Skills Certificate. There is a really strong Health and Safety culture too.
While it is very fast paced here, it's also important to remember that some things don't change. No matter what type of kit you're working on, you'll always need to set yourself the highest standards. The A-Plant standards of safety, customer service and equipment maintenance are exceptional, and they will play an important role in helping you build your career here.”
