VINCI Construction UK
VINCI Construction UK forms part of the VINCI Group which employs around 191,000 people in some 100 countries.
Having access to reliable and quality equipment is critical and A-Plant has had a long-standing Framework Agreement in place with VINCI Construction UK for well over 20 years. The contract covers our entire range of hire products, including Plant, Air Powered Tools and Specialist Products, including Accommodation Units, Falsework and Formwork Products, Powered Access Machines, Traffic Control and Management and Power Generation Equipment.
The strategic partnership between A-Plant and VINCI Construction UK has been developed over a number of years and to reflect the evolution and progression of the contract, a long-term project was undertaken to evolve the hire desk process, increase efficiencies and enhance the service even further to one of our largest and most important customers.
We established a dedicated hire desk within VINCI Construction UK’s offices in Widnes, Cheshire, with a total of five hire professionals managing all hires, off hires and invoice queries. We have developed a number of unique processes, including a proactive off hire system which provides a reminder e-mail to the equipment hirer to state that the equipment has passed its off hire date, resulting in a site check to identify if it is still required. This process saves VINCI Construction UK significant time and money by ensuring equipment is off hired on the correct date.
We have also developed another unique process for VINCI Construction UK to speed up the hiring of equipment. The COINS VINCI system creates the hirer and automatically populates the A-Plant Service Centre’s daybook showing what is required. This process has enabled an exact replica of the hire requirements, which is extremely important with regards to delivery instructions for sensitive sites such as Crossrail where compliant vehicles and strict booking-in procedures are a must.
We also provide VINCI Construction UK with a detailed analysis of their hires on a monthly basis containing a wealth of management information such as regional hire variations and the top utilised plant and tool products to indicate trends, as well as age profile reports that monitor the age of the equipment being supplied to sites.
By implementing this process, we have facilitated a far more efficient and effective trading partnership with VINCI Construction UK. Initiatives such as the proactive off hire system have saved the company thousands and we are actively investing in our fleet to support VINCI Construction UK with their contracts. For instance, we have invested in £2.5 million of new equipment for use on the Nottingham Tramlink project and we have opened a dedicated on-site hire facility at Gatwick Airport to provide equipment to VINCI Construction UK and the company’s sub-contractors for the project to transform Pier 1 in the South Terminal.Download as PDF
