We are one of the UK’s leading plant, tool and equipment hire companies and part of FTSE 100 ﬁrm Ashtead Group plc, which also comprises Sunbelt Rentals based in the USA.
Eve Trakway and Lion Trackhire merge to create the brand, Live Trakway.
A-Plant acquires Hewden On-site, Hewden’s assets: Powered Access and Power Generation, including its lifting division Interlift. A-Plant Industrial is later rebranded to Hewden Industrial and Interlift integrated into FLG Services.
A-Plant acquires Optical Survey Equipment Ltd and integrates its Survey Hire Express brand into Opt-ical.
A-Plant acquires Lion Trackhire.
Acquisition of Tools and Engineering Services Limited, which later falls under A-Plant Industrial division.
A-Plant acquires e-commerce company, Appliance Warehouse which sells Climate Control products
A-Plant purchases the fleet of NG Bailey to expand the product offering of A-Plant Accommodation.
A-Plant acquires Rapid Climate Control, which then absorbs the brand Fral UK.
A-Plant acquires Euremica, with future plans to integrate with PSS Hire.
Acquisition of GB Access in November.

Acquisitions of Hy-Ram, a Scottish fusion equipment business; East Coast Construction; the assets of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services; and Events Infrastructure & Branding Limited, suppliers of barriers for the events industry.
Acquisitions of Eve Trakway, Fairview Lifting Gear (FLG) and PSS (Plant & Site Services), all businesses which complement and enhance the existing A-Plant product offering.
A-Plant acquires Kier Small Tools.
Acquisition of Balfour Beatty Accommodation.
A-Plant further demonstrates its commitment to the highest quality standards with certification to ISO 9001.
A-Plant becomes the first national rental company in Europe to achieve dual certification to both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 across all of its operations.
A-Plant acquires Lux Traffic Controls Limited, adding a further 40+ dedicated Traffic locations and making A-Plant the UK’s largest provider of Traffic Systems on a rental basis. George Burnett retires as Chief Executive of Ashtead Group and is succeeded by Geoff Drabble.
A-Plant acquires Howard Plant.
Sat Dhaiwal appointed Chief Executive Officer of A-Plant.
Ashtead Group doubles the size of Sunbelt Rentals with the acquisition of the US equipment rental interests of Rentokil Initial plc. UK acquisitions also made, including Birse Plant Hire.
UK Plant Ltd is acquired enhancing national coverage with a further 35 Service Centres.
48 new A-Plant Service Centres created by the acquisitions of Sheriff Plant and McKeown.

Ashtead Group purchased Sunbelt Rentals, then a two depot business based in Charlotte, USA.

Ashtead Group lists on the London Stock market.
George Burnett, Ashtead Group’s former Chief Executive, co-led a management buy-in of Ashtead Plant Hire Company Limited. Ashtead Group was formed.
Ashtead Plant Hire Company Limited was founded.
